Our Journey
Douglas Damas grew up in Rio de Janeiro, where weekends meant family, laughter and churrasco. Since 1986, he’s been perfecting the art of grilling picanha over natural charcoal – a tradition that runs deep in Brazilian culture. In 2015, Douglas moved to Australia with a dream: to bring a true taste of Brazil to his new home.
The Beginning in Malaga
In 2023, that dream became reality with the opening of Brazilian Charcoal Surf & Turf at Malaga Market. What started as a gathering place for the Brazilian community quickly became a local favourite for anyone in Perth looking for authentic Brazilian BBQ, fresh seafood and a warm, family-style welcome.
